She also leaves to mourn her sisters Jean Newton and Lorna Wallis.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband Gudmundur Halldor (Mundie) Bjornson, parents John and Ellen Steele, brother Don Steele and his wife Marie, brothers-in-law Mundie Goodmanson, Wayne Newton and Roy Wallis, son-in-law John Tosh and granddaughter Brooke Forrest.

Doreen was born to John and Ellen Steele on April 14, 1929 and raised on the family farm 3 miles west of Glenboro. She attended Hawkins School and completed her education at Glenboro High School. She married Mundie Bjornson on May 26, 1947 and lived on the farm 1½ miles south-west of Glenboro where they raised their four children. She loved baking, gardening, curling, bingo, knitting, ceramics, playing cards and games with family and friends. All the children and grandchildren were gift recipients of her many crafts. Amma was always available to babysit her grandchildren. Doreen was an awesome painter and she was always anxious to help out her children when painting was being done at their homes. Doreen was a member of the Glenboro Curling Club, the Glenboro Lutheran Church and Lutheran Ladies Aid.
