Obituary for Herman Wayne Johnson

Herman Wayne Johnson
Passed away at the Carberry Health Centre on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at the age of 78 years, Herman Wayne Johnson, of Glenboro MB.

Wayne was the eldest son of Herman & Phyllis Johnson. He was born on the family farm on Feb. 5, 1939. He had 2 brothers Brian & Laurie and 2 sisters Jill & Pat.
They were a family who liked to curl.
When he was young he worked for Fred Poole and they took his horses to Toronto to the Royal Fair. They hopped the train to do this. He would talk about this after.
Wayne and Laurie farmed together for awhile. He also started a feedlot cleaning business and tried to get a couple of his daughters to drive trucks but it didn't work out. He later took his brother-in-law Lorne as a partner and later Lorne bought him out.
Most of Wayne’s career was spent as a heavy equipment operator for various municipalities and the Good Roads (MB Highways). The last municipality was the South Cypress and he was there for over 20 years.
Wayne married Margaret Ross on Sept. 21, 1957. They recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. They had 6 children all girls. Julie, Rosie, Terry, Christine, Aurora and Melanie.
Wayne enjoyed curling and he was on teams with his brother, uncle and friends.
He enjoyed hunting and was on many hunting parties with cousins and friends.
He also enjoyed fishing and went on many fishing trips up North with Marg and various family members, also like fishing close to home on the river and lakes around us.
Later Wayne loved watching the birds and feeding them.
Wayne and Marg loved to follow curling on tv.
One of his loves was to spend time with family and friends Belguim Bowling in the yard or at the campground, it didn;t matter where.
He will be forever loved and missed by Marg and all his family.

Wayne leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Margaret (nee Ross), six daughters Julie Coleman of Glenboro, Rosemary (Brian) Hoblyak of Glenboro, Terry (Barry) Poulson of Calgary AB, Chris (Tom) Proudfoot of Edmonton AB, Aurora (Marlow) Bonk of Millet AB, Melanie (Conrad) Bjorklund of Coaldale AB, 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother Laurie (Sigried) Johnson of Glenboro, sister Jill Nowazek of Glenboro, sister-in-law Audrey Johnson of Killarney, brother & sister-in-law Bob & Jackie Ross of Saskatoon Sask. as well as numerous extended relatives & friends.
Wayne was predeceased by his grandchildren Brett & Tara Coleman, son-in-law Garry Coleman, parents Herman & Phyllis Johnson, brother Brian Johnson, sister Pat & brother-in-law Ken Laluk, mother & father-in-law Rita & Lawrence Ross, sisters & brothers-in-law Joan (Clare) Wiggett and Brenda (Lorne) Dolinski.

A Celebration of Wayne's life will be held on Saturday December 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Willmor Chapel with Sharon Hamilton officiating. A Family interment will take place in the Millford Cemetery, Stockton MB.
